Oceania’s newest Caribbean sailings trade beach days for beekeepers, banana farms and Michelin-trained island cooking
The line is betting food-focused shore trips will give guests a deeper look at island life, with small-group excursions on three adults-only ships.
- Oceania Cruises is launching late-2026 Caribbean sailings aboard Oceania Marina, Oceania Vista, and Oceania Allura, replacing traditional beach days with experiential shore excursions including beekeeping collectives and banana farm tours.
- To counter the Caribbean's 'familiarity problem,' where repeat visitors struggle to distinguish islands, Oceania Cruises designed these voyages to offer depth. "The experiences ashore offer even the most well-traveled guests a fresh perspective," said Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises.
- Guests can visit a beekeeping collective in Lucia, browse antique stalls in Sainte-Anne's Artisanal Village in Pitre, or tour an organic farm in Tortola. In Antigua, cooking classes are led by a team trained by Michelin-trained Chef Colin McGurran.
- Onboard, the culinary integration continues through themed Chef's Market Dinners at the Terrace Café, while The Culinary Center offers hands-on classes led by instructors working with local ingredients and regional traditions.
- The shift mirrors broader cruise industry trends toward culinary tourism. Hurtigruten sources onboard menus from around 70 farms and fisheries, while Celebrity Cruises' newest ship Xcel serves regionally inspired dishes at its Mosaic open kitchen.
