OceanaGold President and CEO to Retire in Q2 2027
The company said Bond will stay on as a special adviser for six months while it searches for a new chief executive.
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, OceanaGold Corporation announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Gerard Bond intends to retire in April 2027 after five successful years leading the company.
Bond, who joined OceanaGold in 2022, plans to retire in Australia after 30 years working in the resources industry, with his departure marking the end of a transformative tenure.
Chairman of the OceanaGold Board of Directors Paul Benson said Bond 'has done a stellar job' leading transformation across five strategic pillars including gold production and financial strength.
The Board appointed international search firm Spencer Stuart to evaluate internal and external candidates, while Bond will serve as Special Advisor for six months following his Q2 2027 departure.
Despite the leadership change, the company maintains a clear growth pipeline and strong financial position, with management stating that cash flow generation and strategy execution remain unaffected by the transition.
