Summer holidays are in full swing, but travelers heading to Egypt repeatedly should be careful. This year, a new customs regulation came into effect in this popular holiday destination, which can significantly complicate the use of mobile phones with foreign and local SIM cards. Therefore, the operator O2 warns against purchasing Egyptian SIM and eSIM cards and recommends using roaming services exclusively.
Czechs who travel to Egypt repeatedly may find their mobile phones stop working in the country. This year, Egypt introduced a duty on every phone with an Egyptian SIM card or travel eSIM inserted, and if the user does not pay the duty, the phone will be blocked for use in the country.
