Off-Duty Officer Stabbed in the Bronx, Law Enforcement Source Says
Police were searching for two suspects who fled on an e-bike after the detective was stabbed multiple times in an apparent attempted robbery.
On Friday afternoon, an off-duty NYPD detective was stabbed multiple times near the intersection of East 206th Street and Rochambeau Avenue in the Bronx neighborhood of Norwood.
Two suspects attacked the detective as he retrieved items from his car, stabbing him four times in the neck and torso before fleeing on an e-bike.
Felony assaults in the 52nd Precinct have risen 6% this year with 739 incidents compared to 694 during the same period last year, outpacing the citywide increase of less than 1%.
Medics rushed the detective to Jacobi Hospital, where he is in stable condition, prompting Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch to cancel a scheduled briefing at One Police Plaza.
No arrests have been made as the investigation remains ongoing, and police have not identified a motive or confirmed whether the victim knew his attackers.
