Nvidia DLSS 4.5 Is Now Available to All, with Improved Image Quality and Higher GPU Demands

DLSS 4.5 boosts frame generation up to 6x and enhances image quality using a second-generation AI model trained on a larger dataset, now available to all GeForce users.

  • Last week, Nvidia released DLSS 4.5 from beta and began rolling it out to all GeForce owners via the Nvidia App.
  • Nvidia says DLSS 4.5 uses a second-generation Super Resolution Transformer, our most sophisticated yet, utilizing five times the compute power after training on a high-fidelity dataset.
  • In addition to increasing Multi Frame Generation from 4x to 6x mode, the update adds a dynamic mode that adjusts generated frames automatically for 4K 240Hz path traced performance.
  • DLSS 4.5's extra computation causes a performance penalty, usually minimal in beta but exceeding 20% on older GeForce RTX 2000-series and 3000-series GPUs lacking FP8 processing hardware.
  • With ecosystem momentum, DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation now supports over 250 games and apps, and Nvidia plans an upgraded frame generation feature this spring for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs.
