I Went Eyes-on with Nvidia’s DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation Launching March 31 — and It’s a Game-Changer
DLSS 4.5’s AI frame generation can insert up to five frames between native ones, improving frame pacing and reducing latency for RTX 50-series GPUs, Nvidia said.
- On March 31st, Nvidia will release DLSS 4.5 beta with Dynamic Frame Generation and 6x Multi Frame Generation for RTX 50-series GPUs as an opt-in app override.
- Nvidia says the feature aims to hit monitor refresh rates and avoid wasted GPU time by automatically shifting the frame multiplier based on system load, likening it to an automatic transmission analogy.
- With 6x Multi Frame Generation, Nvidia inserts five additional AI-generated frames per rendered frame, and hands-on demos on Black Myth: Wukong using an RTX 5080 showed latency of a few milliseconds.
- Players will be able to set a target FPS so the feature hits their monitor maximum refresh rate, and Nvidia says the patch improves stability and reduces ghosting, producing a near-uninterrupted feel in testing.
- However, critics point to exclusivity for Blackwell-era RTX 50-series GPUs and rising GPU costs as DLSS 4.5 already supports over 200 titles with 20 native integrations, while GeForce Now gains VR framerate support starting March 19th.

Nvidia’s DLSS 4.5 with 6x Frame Generation is rolling out at the end of March
Nvidia's DLSS 4.5 with 6x Multi Frame Generation will be available starting March 31st for users with RTX 50-series GPUs, the company announced on Tuesday. With 6x Multi Frame Generation, Nvidia claims that DLSS 4.5 can generate "five additional frames for every single natively rendered one, for a maximum 6X multiplier." It's an increase from the maximum of three additional frames possible with DLSS 4. On March 31st, Nvidia will also release Dyn…
Nvidia massively upgrades the DLSS 4.5 beta: On March 31, the "Dynamic Multi Frame Generation" will start. The update promises a dynamic, up to 6-fold scaling of the frames with optimized latency - exclusively for owners of the RTX 50 series. (Continue reading)
