The international train from the Netherlands to Berlin will run via Hamburg starting in October. This is partly due to prolonged maintenance work on the current route between Hanover and Berlin, reports NS. The ICE train will take an hour longer to reach the German capital and will run only four times a day instead of five.
From October, train passengers will be able to travel directly from Apeldoorn or Deventer to Hamburg. The international train from the Netherlands to Berlin will then also stop at this North German city.
The general renovation of the high-speed line from Lehrte to Berlin is imminent. This has massive consequences for the Enno, the Westfalenbahn and the long-distance traffic in our region.
From Friday, October 2, travelers from the Netherlands will be able to travel directly to Hamburg on the newest ICE trains. To facilitate this, the current train to Berlin will be diverted. This is necessary due to prolonged and extensive maintenance work on the German railway network.
