NRL Highlights: Wests Tigers v Raiders
CAMPBELLTOWN STADIUM, JUN 20 – Jed Stuart scored a try on debut as the Raiders won their ninth game in 10, holding off a late Wests Tigers surge to maintain second place on the NRL ladder.
The Canberra Raiders won 16-12 against the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Stadium on Friday night, with Jed Stuart scoring a try on debut.
The Raiders took a 16-0 lead by halftime after strong defence and Joe Tapine's critical plays, while the Tigers mounted a fast-finishing second-half comeback.
Despite the short turnaround following Origin II, Jarome Luai energized the Tigers' second-half resurgence by making crucial plays after a first half in which he had been largely contained.
Ricky Stuart described this week as his most challenging coaching experience and expressed his strong belief that Tapine has been the standout front-rower in the game for the last couple of years.
The win ensured Canberra would finish the round second on the ladder, marking their fifth consecutive victory and ninth win in the last 10 games.
