Austria Orders YouTube to Give Users Access to Their Data
The Austrian data protection authority has ordered YouTube to give users access to their personal data, enforcing rules from the EU's General Data Protection Regulation .
This decision is based on a complaint from the privacy group Noyb regarding YouTube's incomplete data responses related to transparency.
Noyb described the decision as a win but criticized the lengthy five-year process that led to enforcement of the case.
Noyb's Data Protection Lawyer, Martin Baumann, emphasized that delays prevent individuals from exercising their data rights effectively.
The Austrian data protection authority asked YouTube to give users access to their personal data, in accordance with the rules on access to data laid down in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
