Dr. Jen Manne Goehler, an obesity specialist at Mass Brigham, says the new Wegovy pill does seem to work as well as the shot, and that total weight loss seems to be about the same. The biggest difference between the two is that the pill has to be taken on an empty stomach with water only. Patients have to wait 30 minutes to eat, drink or take medicine after ingesting the pill.
