Novelist Otani becomes Japan's 1st to win British crime writing award
A Japanese novelist on Thursday became her country's first to win a major British award for crime and mystery writing, highlighting a boom in the popularity of translated Japanese fiction.
The CWA Awards (Dagger Awards), given by the Crime Writers' Association (CWA) to outstanding crime and mystery novels, were announced on the night of the 3rd (morning of the 4th Japan time), with Akira Otani's English translation of "The Night of Baba Yaga" winning the Translation Category.
