A married couple who made a fortune in private business have been executed in North Korea, with authorities accusing them of becoming “arrogant” and “anti-republican” because of their success. Hundreds of people, including children, were reportedly forced to watch as they were executed by firing squad in an open-air area in Pyongyang, the Daily Mail reports.
The only crime of a couple from Sadonggujŏk, a neighborhood in the North Korean capital Pyongyang, was their success in business. The dictatorship there punished them accordingly. They were accused of reactionary and anti-cultural attitudes and sentenced to death, writes the Daily Mail website.
