Politicians in North Holland want stricter rules for the construction of new data centers. According to the Provincial Council (PS), the current strategy, which was intended to provide more control over the placement of the often large square buildings, is inadequate. Data centers can circumvent regulations by, for example, opting for high-rise buildings and administratively splitting the company into multiple units.
