MIAA Football Championships No Longer at Gillette Stadium
The MIAA is seeking new championship venues after nearly 20 years at Gillette Stadium, citing a change in availability and financial pressures.
On Monday, Nov. 2, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association announced that Gillette Stadium will no longer host the MIAA Football Championships, ending a tradition that began in 2007.
For nearly two decades, the Foxborough venue served as the primary site for these high school Super Bowls, a partnership Patriots owner Robert Kraft championed to encourage youth sports.
The Patriots are scheduled to host the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 6, a date that historically conflicted with early December championship games requiring complex scheduling to accommodate professional preparations.
With the 2026 MIAA Football Tournament beginning this Thursday, Nov. 5, the association faces an immediate search for new venues. MIAA Communications Director Jim Clark noted they are working to secure sites ensuring "the best possible championship experience."
Officials have not yet identified replacement venues for the title games spanning Divisions 1 through 8. Historically, the association has utilized various college and high school facilities, including the Tsongas Center and TD Garden, for other championship events.
