- Aerial touchdowns of 74, 84 and 56 yards helped North Texas quarterback Drew Mestemaker complete 19 of 23 passes in the first half, finishing with 469 yards and three touchdowns.
- Complementing the passing attack, Caleb Hawkins rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns, Tre Williams III had 62 receiving yards and a score, and Aaron Turner added 78 rushing and 58 receiving yards with a touchdown.
- The victory kept North Texas Mean Green in the hunt for the American championship game and left them in a three-way tie with Navy and Tulane.
- Up next North Texas hosts Temple on Friday, while Rice Owls, after missing bowl eligibility, travels to South Florida next Saturday.
