- The 36 state governors under the Nigeria Governors Forum met in Abuja between Wednesday and Thursday, rejecting accusations of mismanagement regarding fuel subsidy removal funds. The Forum endorsed the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme to reduce transport costs.
- Attributing rising inflation to transport costs, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri stated the CNG initiative aims to lower fares, noting "gas is cheaper than petrol, which will actually reduce the costs of transportation."
- Through the Presidential CNG Initiative, officials have converted over 120,000 vehicles nationwide, reducing fuel consumption by 60 to 80 per cent. The Federal Government finances more than 100 gas projects, including 15 CNG mother stations and 86 daughter stations.
- Following his meeting with governors, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed he directed the rollout of another 500 CNG refuelling stations, bringing the total program to 1,000 stations. Implementation begins October 1.
- Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole briefed the Forum on opportunities for state participation in CANEX Weekend 2026 and the Intra-African Trade Fair 2027. Governors pledged support to connect state businesses with global investors.
