Nicki Minaj Teases Trump Press Secretary Role on Air Force One
Steven Cheung joked that Minaj could fill the vacant post after a mock Air Force One interview drew more than 4.5 million views.
- On Sunday, October 25, 2026, rapper Nicki Minaj traveled aboard Air Force One with White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, who posted a video teasing Minaj as the potential next White House press secretary.
- The administration is searching for a replacement after White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia departed the role on October 16, just five days into her tenure, creating a leadership vacuum.
- Later Sunday, Minaj appeared alongside President Donald Trump at a Port Huron, Michigan, rally, where she urged voters to support Republican candidates ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
- White House officials have not confirmed an appointment; reporting indicates Cheung's suggestion was a lighthearted joke rather than a formal offer to the entertainer.
- Historically, the administration has elevated media figures to senior government roles, such as Pete Hegseth, who transitioned from co-hosting Fox & Friends Weekend to leading the Pentagon earlier this term.
