Newmarket man facing first-degree murder charge in death of wife
Scott Stevens faces first-degree murder charges in the death of his wife, marking Durham's fifth homicide this year, police said.
Durham regional police charged 64-year-old Scott Stevens with first-degree murder after police found his wife dead on September 16 in Newcastle.
Around 9:10 a.m., police responded to a call in the Newcastle area and found 62-year-old Marilyn Stevens showing clear signs of trauma.
Scott Stevens was arrested Friday without incident and held for a bail hearing while homicide detectives took over the investigation as the fifth homicide in Durham this year.
