"New West Railway Line closed for 25 days from Monday

After the floods last September, the "new" Westbahn line between Vienna and St. Pölten will be closed for 25 days from Monday. Traffic will run again on the "old" line through the Vienna Forest. The section Vienna - St. Pölten with Atzenbrugger and Lainzer Tunnel as well as Tullnerfeld station is closed for repair work from 12 May to 5 June. The journey time to and from the west is therefore extended by 30 minutes.

On Monday, May 12, 2025, the renovation works in the Atzenbrugger and Lainz tunnels as well as in Tullnerfeld station will start – as a result of the damage caused by the storms in the previous year.

The "new" Westbahn line will be closed for 25 days. This is the reason. Due to necessary repairs after the severe weather disaster in autumn 2024, the Westbahn line between Vienna and St. Pölten will be closed again for 25 days from Monday, May 12. Trains will be diverted through the old line through the Vienna Forest during this time.
