New Trump book, ‘Regime Change,’ has sold 300,000 copies, with more being printed, publisher says
Simon & Schuster says the book sold more than 300,000 copies in its opening week and moved into a third hard-copy printing with 200,000 on order.
Political journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan's book Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump sold over 300,000 copies in its debut week, marking the best first-week performance for any hardcover nonfiction book in 2026.
The book details the initial 14 months of President Donald Trump's second term, providing an inside look at the West Wing, Mar-a-Lago, and Air Force One while analyzing his military decisions and White House restructuring efforts.
After selling out quickly in bookstores and on Amazon, the book entered its third hard copy printing with 200,000 copies on order, including preorders and fulfillment orders per publisher Simon and Schuster.
Sean Manning, vice president and publisher at Simon and Schuster, said the book "has entered the national conversation" and will "hold up as" a work of historic importance.
Trump dismissed the book as "mostly made up" and a "big yawn" despite his history with Haberman, while sales figures contradict publisher speculation that the public had grown tired of books about him.
