New Streaming Service Alert: JustWatch Is Starting Its Own Platform
The service will offer free ad-supported viewing, rentals and a paid ad-free option as JustWatch expands beyond its streaming guide.
- On Tuesday, JustWatch Group announced the launch of JustWatch TV at the Toronto International Film Festival, with the service debuting in October as an advertising-based video on demand and rental platform.
- With 50 million monthly users navigating more than 1,500 streaming services worldwide, Quentin Carbonell, SVP of Global Content Acquisitions and Strategy, said JustWatch TV addresses demand "at a time of fragmentation."
- Content partners including Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street and Vortex Media will provide titles, with viewers accessing free ad-supported streaming, rentals, and paid ad-free subscriptions.
- Launching across the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Australia and New Zealand, the platform will direct viewers to Netflix or Hulu if titles are unavailable on JustWatch TV.
- David Croy, founder and CEO of the JustWatch Group, said the initiative builds on the company's mission to make "content discovery, access and engagement even easier," with executives indicating exclusive content windows could emerge over time.
