New Research in JNCCN Highlights the Negative Impact of Continued Exclusion of Racial Groups from Research on Cancer Genomics

Summary by Ground News
Lack of genomic research for people with African ancestry is hampering efforts to reduce disparities in cancer care. In a first-of-its-kind study, researchers evaluated molecular genetic results for 113 Black South African men diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. The researchers found 38 mutations across 52 patients. A total of 17 pathogenic (4) and potential oncogenic (13) variants were identified.
