Pokemon Legends: Z-A Gets Release Date, New Mega and Rogue Mega Evolutions
KALOS REGION, OCT 16 – Pokémon Legends Z-A revives Mega Evolution with new and returning Mega Pokémon, featuring a modern Kalos setting and a storyline centered on Rogue Mega Pokémon, Team MZ, and Lumiose City.
- During today’s Pokémon Presents broadcast, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak unveiled Mega Dragonite for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is set to launch on October 16, 2025 on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
- Reviving the Mega Evolution mechanic, Legends: Z-A returns to modern-day Kalos region’s Lumiose City and challenges Pokédex expansion.
- In the game’s story, Rogue Mega Evolutions strike wild Pokémon at random, and Team MZ’s mission is to protect Lumiose City from these rampaging threats.
- In its launch editions, Legends: Z-A allows players to earn Mega Stones by teaming up with Team MZ to calm rogue Pokémon, and the game will launch in standard Nintendo Switch and enhanced Switch 2 editions with improved graphics and frame rates.
- With launch approaching, speculation continues, and IGN’s News Editor Tom Phillips noted that players have a few more months to speculate which additional Pokémon will receive Mega Evolutions.
