- Disney revealed on Tuesday a new Cars-themed area named Piston Peak National Park that will be added to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom in Orlando.
- The expansion follows the permanent July 7 closure of several Frontierland attractions, including the riverboat, the island adventure, and the waterway area, to accommodate the largest development in Magic Kingdom’s history.
- Piston Peak Land features rugged mountains, waterfalls, geysers extending from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and natural tree barriers separating it from Frontierland and Liberty Square.
- Disney characterized the new area as a stunning natural landscape featuring giant trees, snowy peaks, cascading waterfalls, rushing rivers, and remarkable geysers, highlighting the use of "Parkitecture" to ensure that the buildings blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment.
- Construction is set to start this summer, allowing visitors next year to experience features such as a lodge, a Ranger Headquarters, and scenic trails inspired by the Rocky Mountains and the American Frontier, while Big Thunder Mountain is scheduled to reopen with updates.
