Stephen Cox, a nearly 15-year veteran of the Flagler Beach Fire Department who's long represented its new generation, was appointed its fire chief earlier this month, from a pool of 15 candidates. New fire chief, deputy fire chief chosen for Southfield

A new fire chief and deputy chief have been selected for Southfield by its city council. Appointed as chief is Joey Thorington — who retired three years ago as Dearborn’s fire chief. He fills the position previously held by former Southfield Fire Chief Johnny Menifee, who retired in March.
