The new fleet primarily serves to replace the oldest, second-hand Mercedes-Benz solo buses and some of the old midi buses.
The first Mercedes-Benz Citaro K type buses, manufactured to order by BKV, left for Hungary today. Additional buses from the 65-unit fleet will arrive continuously. Rejuvenating the bus fleet is a key goal of BKV, and with the arrival of the new buses, almost 8 percent of the fleet will be renewed - BKV Zrt. informed the press.
New buses have started operating in Budapest, Karácsony says passengers are safe - Several aging vehicles will soon be withdrawn from circulation.
The mayor claims that the safety of passengers is not in any way at risk.
