ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VIRGINIA, JUL 11 – The private Monticello tour was a special gesture from President Trump after talks on the Middle East cease-fire and rising antisemitic attacks, officials said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife quietly added a trip to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello estate to their itinerary before departing the U.S. Thursday.

The Prime Minister's Office statement noted that the Prime Minister and his wife Sarah returned from the US after visiting the home of Thomas Jefferson: "He laid the principles of modern democracy, the foundation of which is the will of the people," it said. The two returned on Trump's plane.
