- On June 30, Nelson Police Department officers responded to a stabbing in the 100-block of Vernon Street after Emergency Health Services notified police at 5:15 p.m. The victim was transported to Kootenay Lake Hospital for treatment.
- Officers conducted area patrols and requested assistance from the RCMP Police Dog Service to locate evidence near the railway tracks. Through the investigation, police identified a suspect who was known to the victim.
- At approximately 7:10 p.m., police arrested an adult male at a residence on Perrier Road without incident. The accused was transported to NPD cells and held for bail.
- An aggravated assault investigation remains underway by the NPD following the incident on Vernon Street. Police confirmed the suspect remains in custody pending further proceedings.
- The investigation resulted in the arrest of one man in connection with the stabbing, as authorities in Nelson continue to process evidence to support the ongoing criminal case.
