Nearly 11,000 North Korean troops stationed in Russia's Kursk Oblast at start of 2026, media reports
Approximately 10,000 North Korean combat troops and 1,000 engineer troops are currently stationed in the front-line Russian region, according to the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
Some survivors may be sent back to the front.
Three of the five soldiers sent to Ukraine by Kim Jong Un, to fight by Russia were injured or killed. South Korean secret services gave the press some figures.
According to South Korean intelligence, about 11,000 North Korean soldiers are currently stationed at Kursk, the Kyiv Independent reported.
