NDHHS recognizes International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Saskatchewan renews commitment to removing barriers under its first accessibility plan, emphasizing leadership of persons with disabilities for inclusion, officials said.
- On December 3, the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors recognised the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, linking it to a theme promoting disabled peoples' leadership for inclusion and sustainability.
- This year, the Government of Saskatchewan released the province's first accessibility plan as required by The Accessible Saskatchewan Act, and public sector bodies published their own plans.
- Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services provides provincewide support, resources and advocacy for people who are Deaf, DeafBlind or Hard of Hearing, enhancing communication access for community, education and workplace participation.
- HSPRD noted persons with disabilities still face barriers in key areas, and officials stressed that inclusion requires action, collaboration, and accountability, as per statements from Minister Jenson and SDHHS Director Gillies.

NDHHS recognizes International Day of Persons with Disabilities
More than 6,000 North Dakotans are currently receiving Developmental Disabilities Services. Since 1992, the United Nations has dedicated a day every year to increasing awareness about those who live with disabilities. For the last 33 years, December 3 has been recognized as International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
