NC State-Virginia Game Set for Brazil Moving to Virginia, International Game Could Not Be Conducted
Fans who bought Brazil trip packages will get refunds as the ACC works with ESPN and the NCAA to keep the Aug. 29 game on schedule.
On Wednesday, North Carolina State announced its football game against Virginia, originally scheduled for Brazil, will relocate to Scott Stadium in Charlottesville on Aug 29.
The Atlantic Coast Conference cited "extensive review with operational partners and international stakeholders" for the change after event organizer Athlete Advantage informed the league the event could not proceed as planned.
League officials are working with the NCAA and ESPN to confirm the game date, while fans who purchased tickets through the official "College Football Brasil" website will receive refunds.
Originally set as a nonconference series, the matchup between The Wolfpack and Cavaliers now moves to the traditional backdrop of a conference home-and-home setup at Scott Stadium.
Less than three months before the teams were scheduled to open their seasons in Rio, the relocation forces rapid logistical adjustment for both participating programs.
