The Secretary of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA), Waldemar Quiles, reported that between February 14 and 15, members of the Ranger Corps made about 287 boardings and issued $8,650.00 in tickets for violations of laws and regulations on navigation during a jet ski event held between the municipalities of Guánica, Lajas and Cabo Rojo.
Fines of up to $5,000 and the possible confiscation of boats could be imposed on sailors who ignore official warnings during emergencies, as part of a legislative measure supported by the Department of Natural Resources and (DRNA).
