Native NACS ports, infotainment upgrade for MY27 Porsche Taycan
On Tuesday, Porsche announced the 2027 Taycan with new "E-Shift" virtual gears and a "more emotive Porsche Electric Sport Sound" for its electric lineup.
The automaker previously stated it would not replicate Hyundai's fake gear shifts, but reversed course after testing the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N in Germany.
Every 2027 Taycan now includes the 105 kWh Performance Battery Plus as standard, raising the base price to $114,250 and adding a Tesla-like NACS charging port.
Drivers can engage manual mode via steering wheel paddles to experience eight simulated gears, or select automatic mode, with deliveries beginning this fall.
Future Macan and Cayenne EV updates may also feature E-Shift technology, while stricter national battery safety standards take effect July 1, 2026.
