The place of the Quinconces in Bordeaux today received a national tribute in memory of the corporals Wilfried Schmitter and Anthony Berthôme, tragically disappeared during the fire in Mérignac on July 21st.
The two 34-year-old professionals of the Saint-Médard-en-Jalles barracks in Gironde died on 21 July in a forest fire near Bordeaux airport. They were promoted to the Legion of Honour during a national tribute on Friday 18 September.
