This aqueduct carries the Shropshire Union Canal over the road from Nantwich Town Centre towards Chester. It was designed by Thomas Telford using a cast iron trough instead of stonework. It was built by Telford who was a pioneer of the use of cast iron box sections — see photo taken in the 1950s, when it was drained for maintenance, and this is an early example which was completed in 1826.
