Jermaine Pennant Hospitalised by Dog Attack
Pennant said King intervened as he tried to protect his dog, and he later declined to report the attack to police.
Former Premier League star Jermaine Pennant, 43, required more than 50 stitches on a leg wound after being mauled by a dog while walking his pets in north London last week.
Pennant intervened after a German Shepherd 'had a go at' his American Akita, King, prompting him to 'stepped in to protect' his pet before being attacked himself.
Sustaining four bite wounds during the struggle, Pennant credited King for 'saving his life' after the dog intervened; he also thanked partner Mimmi Montgomery for caring for them.
Pennant, a Talksport pundit, confirmed he will not report the attack to police while sharing recovery photos on Instagram displaying the extent of his injuries.
This incident follows a sharp rise in dog attacks, with 29,400 cases recorded last year marking an 83 per cent increase over the 16,040 incidents reported in 2020.
