Punk Band Peelander-Z Hospitalized After Crash in New Mexico
Three members were placed in intensive care after a tractor-trailer rear-ended the band’s vehicle, and an online fundraiser has raised more than $144,000.
Members of Austin, Texas band Peelander-Z are recovering after their vehicle was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer outside Albuquerque on Monday, May 18, forcing cancellation of the band's remaining tour dates.
The crash compounds what has been a tumultuous 2026 for Peelander-Z, following a February van theft from an apartment parking lot on East 45th Street in Austin, Texas.
According to an online fundraiser, all three members—Yellow, Pink and Tiger—are conscious and stable but suffered traumatic injuries including multiple fractures, organ injuries and brain injuries.
An online fundraiser has raised more than $144,000 to support the band members' recovery, while Chicken Ranch Records said it will coordinate with fans interested in organizing benefit shows.
Extended hospitalization ahead signals the severity of injuries sustained; community support through fundraising and potential benefit shows will prove critical to the band's long-term recovery.
