The "Geo Barents" took more than 12,000 refugees on board - now one of the largest ships of private aid organizations is ending its mission in the Mediterranean. The aid workers are citing harassment by the Italian authorities as the reason for this. In addition, fewer refugees are now arriving.

Doctors Without Borders has suspended operations with immediate effect from its rescue vessel, the Geo Barents, which has intercepted thousands of refugees in the Mediterranean in recent years. They justified this by bullying, which they said was carried out by the Italian authorities with the help of new laws, as well as by the current overall political climate in Europe, which is not very welcoming to immigration.

Lékaři bez hranic s okamžitou platností ukončili provoz svého záchranného plavidla Geo Barents, které zachytilo v posledních letech ve Středozemním moři tisíce uprchlíků. Zdůvodnili to šikanou, kterou podle nich prováděly italské úřady i s pomocí nových zákonů, a také současným celkovým politickým klimatem v Evropě, jenž imigraci příliš nepřeje.
