Rupert Lowe Cleared of Breaching MPs’ Rules over Grooming Gang Inquiry Donations
ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 11 – Rupert Lowe faces scrutiny for not declaring more than £600,000 raised for his independent inquiry into gang-related sexual exploitation, potentially breaching MPs' Code of Conduct.
Parliament's standards commissioner Daniel Greenberg opened a formal inquiry on July 10, 2025, into MP Rupert Lowe's failure to register donations for his Rape Gang Inquiry.
The inquiry followed concerns over Lowe not declaring over £600,000 raised since March via a crowdfunder supporting a national grooming gangs inquiry.
Donations arrived on June 23, and Lowe's inquiry group said he had not used the funds until late June, with the required 28-day registration window still open.
Greenberg confirmed no breach of rules occurred, citing evidence Lowe submitted on time, while Lowe called the complaint a malicious attempt to shut down the inquiry.
Lowe, suspended from Reform UK in March amid unrelated allegations, denied wrongdoing, pledged to continue his investigation, and plans to welcome abuse survivors to Westminster soon.
