Motorway Closed After Crash and Car Fire
Police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage as the lorry driver assists inquiries into the crash that killed a 39-year-old man.
A 39-year-old man died following a crash involving a car and a lorry on the MOTORWAY northbound between Junction 3 and Junction 4 on Tuesday. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 9.40pm.
West Midlands Fire Service extinguished a fire affecting a car and a heavy goods vehicle trailer at the scene. The MOTORWAY northbound remained closed between Junction 3 and Junction 4 while emergency services responded, reopening early on Wednesday.
Police, Ambulance, and National Highways attended the scene while the Serious Collision Investigation Unit began establishing the circumstances. The lorry driver is assisting Officers with their inquiries into the fatal collision.
West Midlands Police appealed for witnesses with dashcam footage from the collision. A spokesperson stated: "Anyone with information can contact us on 101, message on Live Chat or email SCIU@westmidlands.police.uk, quoting 5590 of October 6."
The family of the deceased man has been informed and is receiving support during this devastating time. Forensic examinations concluded overnight, with the MOTORWAY reopening to traffic on Wednesday morning.
