MotoGP Australian GP: Bezzecchi leads Aprilia 1-2-4-5 in Friday Practice
Bezzecchi’s late lap edged Raul Fernandez by 0.072 seconds as Aprilia placed four riders in the top five after two red flags.
- On Friday, Marco Bezzecchi topped Practice for the Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island with a 1m26.775s lap, edging Trackhouse Aprilia's Raul Fernandez by just under a tenth of a second. Aprilia emerged as the manufacturer to beat early in the weekend.
- The 60-minute session faced two red flags that disrupted track time. Bezzecchi crashed at Turn 4 early on, and a wallaby wandering onto the circuit forced a second halt nine minutes later, forcing race control to pause proceedings.
- Marc Marquez finished third as the leading Ducati, while championship leader Jorge Martin ended fifth. Pecco Bagnaia struggled to 14th, missing the direct Q2 qualification spots as riders intensified efforts in the final 20 minutes.
- Factory Honda rider Luca Marini withdrew from the event due to a virus, leaving his team without a factory representative during Practice. Diogo Moreira managed ninth place as Honda's top runner for the day.
- Officials will re-evaluate Marini's condition on Saturday to determine his participation for the remainder of the Phillip Island weekend. Teams and riders now prepare setups for qualifying as the championship battle intensifies.
