- A Talker Research survey of 2,000 employed parents of children aged 0-10 found that 39% have missed meaningful school events because their paid time off bank ran dry.
- Half of parents have missed important school activities, primarily because they must use their limited PTO to care for children who are home sick instead of attending events.
- While 87% of parents intentionally save their PTO for classroom moments, the average respondent receives just 11 days of PTO annually, creating significant pressure to manage time wisely.
- "For parents, some of the most meaningful moments happen in the classroom, on the sidelines and at school performances, but unexpected illness can sometimes get in the way," said Mike Hartman, vice president at Lysol.
- To mitigate these disruptions, 75% of parents adopt a "proactive" stance when battling illness-causing germs, diligently sanitizing their homes to keep children healthy and avoid unnecessary absences.
