Moses Itauma Set for January Return After Loss at the Hands of Filip Hrgovic
Warren said Itauma will return against a named opponent in January as he rebuilds after his first career defeat to Filip Hrgovic.
Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that 21-year-old Moses Itauma will return to the ring in January to rebuild following his first professional defeat against Filip Hrgovic in August.
Hrgovic exposed weaknesses in the youngster's stamina, pacing, and composure under fire, though Itauma will continue working with trainer Ben Davison for his comeback.
A rematch with Hrgovic is impossible because Frank Sanchez agreed to step aside, so Warren is seeking a well-known opponent to avoid soft competition for Itauma.
Former boxer Amir Khan sympathized with Itauma, advising him to shake off demons and return to training immediately, maintaining the youngster remains a future title contender.
Itauma aims to launch his bid to become king of the heavyweight division by 2027, with Warren plotting a series of major fights for next year to determine the division's number one.
