Morrisons Plans to Cut 200 Jobs at Bradford Head Office
The supermarket group said fewer than 10% of jobs at Hilmore House are affected as it streamlines processes and expands AI use.
- On Monday, Morrisons announced a consultation regarding around 200 job cuts at its Hilmore House headquarters in Bradford, as the retailer plans to restructure operations while increasing use of AI.
- The retailer described the layoffs as a "tough but necessary decision" to "capitalise on the potential of AI to improve performance," aiming to concentrate on core activities and automate manual tasks.
- These cuts impact less than 10% of roles at Hilmore House, while the chain operates 497 supermarkets and more than 1,700 convenience and franchise stores, offering affected staff "full support."
- This move marks the second round of job losses in weeks, following last month's convenience buying team closure that put up to 100 office staff at risk.
- Under boss Rami Baitieh, the company continues a long-term programme to overhaul central business operations, having revealed further sales growth last month amid its ongoing turnaround strategy.
