41K Bottles of Walgreens Nasal Spray Recalled over Bacterial Contamination Concern: FDA

Over 41,000 bottles of Walgreens nasal spray were recalled due to Pseudomonas lactis contamination, posing risks to immunocompromised users, FDA reported.

  • On Nov. 12, Medical Products Laboratories Inc. voluntarily recalled 41,328 bottles of Walgreens Saline Nasal Spray with Xylitol, 1.5 oz, due to microbial contamination, and notified customers by letter.
  • The manufacturer cited microbial contamination when it voluntarily recalled the product and began notifying customers by letter on Nov. 12.
  • The product carries NDC 0363-3114-01 and Walgreens Saline Nasal Spray with Xylitol, 1.5 oz includes lot 71409, expiration 02/28/2027; consumers can contact Medical Products Laboratories Inc. at 9990 Global Road, Philadelphia, PA 19115.
  • Earlier this month the FDA assigned a Class II recall, advising consumers to stop using and return the affected nasal spray.
  • Testing detected a bacterium associated with raw milk products, which can pose risks to people with weakened immune systems or compromised respiratory systems.
