Rapper Pitbull Sets Bald Cap World Record At London Show
The sold-out show drew 69,999 fans and became the biggest BST Hyde Park concert in the festival’s history.
On Friday, 45-year-old rapper Pitbull, real name Armando Christian Perez, set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps at London's BST Hyde Park.
BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James conceived the idea earlier this year, while supermarket chain Aldi distributed 300 caps to attendees outside the festival grounds.
Exactly 22,141 fans participated in the record-breaking attempt, contributing to a total crowd of 69,999—the largest attendance in BST Hyde Park's history.
Accepting his certificate, Pitbull praised fans known as 'Baldies,' stating, "It's a blessing, it's an honor." He compared them to Jimmy Buffett's "Parrotheads" and the Grateful Dead's "Deadheads."
Pitbull performed "Wonderwall" in tribute to England's World Cup run, cementing a historic milestone that placed him alongside past BST Hyde Park performers like Garth Brooks.
Sunglasses, goat bears, suit - and of course baldness: these are the hallmarks of the US party rapper Pitbull. His fans like to imitate him. At a huge show in London, a lot of people do that - and even make it to the Guinness Book of Records.
For their idol they sweat in the heat under latex hoods: At a concert at Hyde Park in London, supporters of the bald-headed US rapper Pitbull have set a curious record.
