Over 100 homes were damaged by a tornado in northwest Harris County; no injuries were reported and power outages affected around 28,000 residents, officials said.
- Harris County officials said Monday that an apparent tornado struck northwest Harris County, damaging more than 100 homes in the affected area.
- Federal forecasters said the storms formed after a cold front collided with warm Gulf of Mexico air, producing unstable conditions and wind shear that fostered supercell thunderstorms.
- CenterPoint reported more than 27,000 customers lost power at the storm's peak, and officials confirmed damage to the Klein Fire Department administration building and an ESD 11 facility.
- First responders are actively searching homes for injured or trapped residents, and officials say that so far there have been no deaths or serious injuries reported.
- The National Weather Service said it will conduct a storm survey on Tuesday to determine the twister's strength, while a Tornado Watch remained in effect through 1 a.m. Tuesday.
