Since the end of 2023 the decommissioned coal power plant Moorburg has been rebuilt. Now the boiler houses should fall in order to create space for the hydrogen production. This only partly worked out. How should it go on now?

The blasting of the two brand new boiler houses of the former Moorburg coal power plant in Hamburg did not work as planned. Although the first boiler house collapsed on Sunday, the second one stopped due to technical problems. In the past weeks, around 1,850 holes were drilled into the reinforced concrete supports of the boiler houses; 600 kilograms of explosives per building were to cause the construction to collapse.
