Prince Owusu Has PK Goal, Three Assists as Montreal Thumps Red Bulls 4-1
Prince Owusu had a penalty and three assists as Montreal snapped a four-match skid and completed a season sweep of New York.
On Saturday, CF Montreal secured a 4-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls at Stade Saputo in interim head coach Philippe Eullaffroy's debut, with Prince Owusu scoring on a penalty kick and adding three assists.
The victory arrived in Montreal's first match under Eullaffroy following the April 12 firing of Marco Donadel, as the club snapped a four-game losing streak while completing a season sweep of the Red Bulls.
Victor Loturi opened scoring in the 5th minute, followed by an Owusu penalty in the 39th minute and a Matty Longstaff strike early in the second half, though a Longstaff own goal cut the lead to 3-1 before Kwadwo Opoku capped the scoring in the 77th minute.
This win marks a milestone for Montreal, which improved to 100-66-37 all time at Stade Saputo, while rookie Ethan Horvath saved two shots for the visitors who controlled more possession but could not break the defensive block.
Montreal will host New York City on April 25 to continue its home stand, while the Red Bulls look to rebound when they host United on Wednesday.
