The Prime Minister wants Costa another two and a half years ahead of the European Council and supports the solution of the President of the EPP not to interfere in top positions until the end of the parliamentary term, which implies the re-election of Portuguese, but also of Roberta Metsola as President of the EP
The Portuguese Prime Minister has already expressed his position within the EPP, but also with the other European leaders, confirmed the Government's source to the PUBLIC.
Luís Montenegro supports Antonio Costa's second term in office at the European Council and the solution of the President of the EPP not to touch the top posts until the end of the parliamentary term.
The maintenance of the current officials for the main European posts is also the solution defended by Manfred Weber, President of the EPP and his group in the European Parliament
The Government's source goes on to SIC that the Prime Minister gives full support to a solution, which is already being discussed in the PPE, to maintain the top positions as they stand.
